Never mind Hogwarts, we have Figworts! I have been leaving our little wildlife habitat meadow alone this year to see what flowers and plants might emerge when not mown down by the Council every couple of weeks.....we have snapdragons, primroses, cowslips, broom (I think) grape hyacinths, wood avens, bluebells (the Spanish variety) ivy, netttles, hedge woundwort, plantain, dandelions and last but not least Figwort! It is a fascinating looking plant and in the old days was called 'scrofula' - it was used to treat skin problems.....I wonder what else will emerge in the coming months before we mow it ready for winter?
