Bird Baubles!

Our last Gardening Club of 2017 happened on December 19th up at The Avalon Centre where we made edible Christmas baubles for the birds and painted pots for spring primroses.

Mini mince pies, fresh fruit and popcorn went down a treat too.

Alyson popped in to say hello and took away a bauble.

Here's the recipe:

1 packet of vegetable suet

2 tbsp unsalted peanut butter

bird seed

sunflower hearts

organic porridge oats

Melt the suet and peanut butter over a gentle heat, stirring constantly. Take off the heat and leave to cool for about 5 minutes. Stir in seeds and oats until mix is squidgy looking. Spoon into bowl shaped containers like 1/2 a coconut shell or 1/2 a hollowed out orange - making a hole for the string before filling - or an old teacup where you can use the handle to wrap the string. Put into the fridge to set. Hang on the trees outside.
