Guy, Paul, Terry and I went down to the felled ash tree and put up two bat boxes on the large tree stumps in the avenue. We are grateful to Sue Church at Mendip District Council and Bo Walsh our local tree officer who gave permission for them to be put up there. It's lovely to see this lovely old tree being brought back to life again with a new purpose. It was always full of wildlife, like its wild bees and the breeding woodpeckers. Now it's a bat tree and I secretly suspect it is very happy about it!
